My name is
William Balentine
I am a 25 year old 3D modeler and aspiring level designer from southeast Texas. As you scroll down, you will see my college thesis that I completed during the last semester of my time at Lamar University. The thesis I made is a ten minute long demo video for a horror game that I wanted to make. This demo represents the progress I made during my time in college while also being my first major step towards game development.
I am ready and excited to make my way through the vigors of game development and dive headfirst into the larger game-dev community!

A Peek Into a Future That May Yet Happen
Big Brother is a short form horror game that is set within a collapsing underground research facility. I made this game because I want to go into the gaming industry and decided that the best way to show what I can do is to just get up and make a game (or at least a demo). As a horror game it is designed to be a scary experience with a creepy environment and a scary monster for the player to try and avoid; the player’s goal: escape and survive.

The primary antagonist of the game is an autonomous exo-suit called Big Brother (or BB1) which actively hunts the players as they try to escape. The project was designed utilizing Unreal Engine 5 software for its exceptional graphics and intuitive user interface experience as well as Blender for its expansive 3D modeling tools. This game takes inspiration from such games as Outlast and Alien Isolation with hopes to create the most successful horror game possible. The game is designed to be a standard scary experience that draws on the fear of robots, technology, and claustrophobia.
